2022 GALT AG BOOSTERS SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION

The Galt Ag Boosters will award scholarships to seniors who will be attending a post-secondary (college, University, community college or vocational/technical institution), in the fall of 2022. The scholarship committee reserves the right to award scholarships at their discretion. First priority will be given to Agriculture Program Completers.

To apply for this scholarship you must:

  • Be an FFA member
  • Have a high school total grade point average of 2.5 or better
  • Plan to start school in the Fall Semester following graduation
  • Submit your high school transcript
  • Score at least 60 points on the scholarship score sheet 

If you are a recipient of this scholarship, the following criteria must be met in order to receive the scholarship money:

  • After enrollment in a college, university, community college or vocational/technical institution the Student must submit a copy of their course schedule after the add/drop date showing enrollment with a minimum of 12 units. Upon receipt of their course schedule the Galt Ag Boosters Treasurer will release the student’s scholarship money. Please mail information to: Galt Ag Boosters P.O.   • All scholarship funds must be claimed by the end of the second school year after the student’s graduation from high school: If not, the scholarship award will be revoked and funds will be returned to the Galt Ag Boosters general scholarship fund.

When submitting this application, please be sure to:

  • Include a copy (in PDF form) of your GHS or LRHS Transcript
  • Please do NOT include letters of recommendation

Applicant interviews will be held in May 2022. Applicants will be contacted with the date, time, and location of the interview. A copy of their third quarter grades must be brought to the interview (these grades are not final grades and should not be included in your GPA. They are for informational purposes only).


APPLICATION SCORING GUIDE

Program Completer (5 points, this is an all or nothing category)

All scholarship candidates who are Galt High School/Liberty Ranch High School Agriculture Program completers will receive 5 points.

Points are given for your total G.P.A. as follows:

3.75 – 4.0   = 5 points           3.5 – 3.75 = 4 points                  3.5 – 3.25 = 3 points        3.25 – 3.0 = 2 points

State FFA Degree (5 points, this is an all or nothing category)

If you hold the State FFA Degree, you will receive 5 points.

FFA Office (5 points, this is an all or nothing category)

If you ran for FFA office at any level, including Greenhand, Chapter, Section, Region or State, you will receive 5 points.

If you competed on a team you will receive 5 points.

Committee Chairman (0 – 5 points)

If you served as a Committee Chairman at any level, including Chapter, Section, Region or State, you will receive 5 points. Examples of standing committees at the chapter level include the following: Executive Committee, Activities Committee, Newsletter Committee, Budget and Fund-raising Committee, Recruitment Committee, and the Community Service Committee.

Freshman year activities (0-10 points)

These activities might include Creed, Best Informed Greenhand contest, Greenhand Office, Novice Agriculture science Fair, Committee members, Judging Teams, Fairs and/or Shows, FFA Leadership Development activities, Star Greenhand.

Sophomore year activities (0-10 points)

These activities might include Parliamentary Procedure Team, Judging Teams, Public Speaking, Job Interview, Committee participation, Fairs and/or Shows, FFA Leadership Development activities, Sectional Office, Star Chapter Farmer.

Junior year activities (0-10 points)

These activities might include Parliamentary Procedure Team, Judging Teams, Public Speaking, Job Interview, Agri-science Fair, Committee participation, Fairs and/or shows, FFA Leadership Development activities, Chapter Office, Regional Office, Star Chapter Farmer, State FFA Degree, Proficiency Awards.

Senior year activities (0-10 points)

These activities might include Parliamentary Procedure Team, Judging Teams, Public Speaking, Job Interview, Committee participation, Fairs and/or Shows, Leadership Development activities, Chapter Office, Regional Office, Star Chapter Farmer, State FFA Degree, Proficiency Awards.

School & Community Involvement (0-10 points)

Some examples of community involvement activities include Ag Booster Fundraisers, the GHS/LRHS Blood Drives, Adopt-A-Family, McFarland Ranch, Relay for Life, church activities, assisting local Service Organizations and Work Experience, School related activities might include GHS/LRHS Leadership activities, Student Body Office, SCF, Athletics/Sports participation, Letterman’s Honor Society, Class Office, Band, Choir, Drama, Honors Program and Advanced Placement.

Essay (5 points) Your essay should describe specific examples of the link to FFA involvement and your career goal.
